THE COMIC CON by Dee Lagasse is LIVE!!

ABOUT THE BOOK.

Birdie Yamamoto has lived in a fantasy world for as long as she can remember.

When she was a young child, she buried herself in comic books. As a teenager, she created stories of her own. Now she has her dream job, as a series writer for Suffra-Jette -- her very own comic.

Atticus Cohen has perfected the art of pretending to be someone he’s not.

The rising Hollywood actor lands the role of a lifetime – a lead in the latest big budget superhero movie: Suffra-Jette. The rigorous workouts, grueling schedule, and relentless press are all things he expects when he takes the job.

What he doesn’t expect is comic creator, Birdie Yamamoto, to have an opinion about everything he says or does.

When word spreads about the trouble on set, fans of the beloved comic begin to worry about the outcome of the movie.

Birdie and Atticus may not always be on the same page, but they both want the movie to succeed. So when Birdie’s best friend suggests they pretend to date to save the movie, they agree.

After all, it’s just a publicity stunt to spin the bad press.

…Until it isn’t anymore.

MY REVIEW.

Comics and More.

In The Comic Con, Dee Lagasse gives her readers a light hearted, funny read with Birdie and Atticus and the hijinks they find themselves in.

Birdie is a comic book lover, always has been and has now penned her own comic that has taken over the world. She's a regular kind of gal and I liked that about her. While her fame is growing, she stayed firmly planted on the ground.

Atticus is also a pretty down to earth guy, even though for most of his teen years, he was the heartthrob on some sort of teeny bopper show. All gown up with a few serious movies and an Oscar under his belt, the role of a lifetime heads his way and it's something he would be willing to star in for free. As a super fan of Birdie's comic, Atticus can't believe he was chosen to star in the movie adaptation and even better, the creator is pretty awesome in his eyes.

Oh I so wanted to like these two together, but I didn't. There wasn't a whole lot of chemistry between them in my eyes. Separately they were fine, but together it felt forced. Kind of a bummer really. While the idea of saving the movie was a good story line in theory, it fell a bit flat for me.

Although predictable, the book was well written and along with Birdie and Atticus, there are plenty of friends and family to help carry the story. I am a fan of the angst and wanted a little more from these characters. The Comic Con reads as a standalone with a cute epilogue to wrap things up.
