ABOUT THE BOOK.

Bailey:
He met me on my worst day. He’s the cop that saved my daughter and me.
My daughter somehow managed to pull this magnetic man into our lives. I vowed to stay away from men after the disaster that was my marriage, but every little thing he does wears me down. He’s there for us when things go wrong and then starts promising to always be there. Not just for me, but my daughter, too.

Caleb:
For years, I’ve said I would never be in a relationship. I have too much baggage. Then Bailey and her daughter entered my life and everything changed. They flip my world on its axis, and my protective instincts kick in. It doesn’t take long before I decide that I’m going to make them both mine.
Will Bailey and I be able to get over our hang-ups about relationships? Will her ex push us apart or only cause our relationship to grow?

Discussions of PTSD & on page nightmares
On page gun violence
On page death (through a flashback)

MY REVIEW.

3.5 Stars from Tiffany!

A Mixed Reaction…

My introduction to Alex Taylor's writing through "Saving You" left me with mixed feelings. The initial storyline featuring Bailey and Caleb intrigued me, but as their relationship developed, my enthusiasm waned.

He’s a hot cop and she was a damsel in distress that he couldn’t get out of his mind the minute he left the call to her house. Bailey and her daughter Charlie (Charolette) “met” Caleb at the worst moment possible and never in a million years thought taking him some thank you cookies would turn into the whirlwind that it did. Caleb is single for a reason, he carries some PTSD baggage that he doesn’t want to bother others with, especially a significant other. On paper, these two are a perfect fit, two broken souls out to heal each other.

This is an insta-love if I’ve ever read one, especially with young children involved. For some reason this bugged me, this and the fact that Bailey is a survivor herself and the more we got to know Caleb in the bedroom, the more I started to feel maybe they weren’t the best match. While it was an insta-slow burn, as there were lots and lots of repetitive inner thoughts filling up the pages and when we finally got to the nitty gritty, it was 0-60 and didn’t feel like it fit in with the cautious characters we’ve been spending time with.

All in all, I liked the rated G version of Caleb and Bailey’s story, the rest I’ve been done and over with for a while. Caleb has a great group of friends and family that surrounded him and instantly (of course) welcomed Bailey and Charlie. While there isn’t much in the way of angst, there is some expected background action. Saving You is the second book in the Destined Love series, however, reads well as a standalone.
