The Trouble with Runaway Brides by Piper Rayne is NOW LIVE!!
ABOUT THE BOOK.
I should not still be hung up on my high school girlfriend.
I’m a billionaire, with a penthouse in New York City, a private plane, and was recently crowned one of Manhattan’s most eligible bachelors.
She’s engaged to my rival. A real prick of a guy whose family is about as famous as mine. So, pictures of the happy couple are plastered everywhere, and it’s driving me insane.
The last time I spoke to her was my freshman year of college, and I never imagined I’d bump into her at a crowded restaurant in the busiest city in the world. But fate had other plans, and when I innocently suggest that the press wouldn’t bother with her wedding plans if she held it in our small Alaskan town where we grew up, I had no idea she’d take me seriously.
Now, I find myself helping her plan the wedding at my dad’s luxury resort while the town’s gossip app follows our every move, afraid that their golden boy will get his heart broken twice by the same girl.
But that’s impossible because she stole my heart when we were fifteen, and never gave it back.

MY REVIEW.
4.5 Stars from Tiffany!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Cliché, but Cute!
The movie Sweet Home Alabama is one of my favs and this latest Lake Starlight book reminded me so much of it. We’ve got the broody ex still in his hometown (Lance) the girl who doesn’t know what she wants (Kenzie), and the man caught in the middle of the two (Will). Granted Lance is back in their hometown to help Kenzie plan her wedding to another, but still…
“This Saturday, my heart will break as I promise myself to someone else, but it’s for the best. I’m in charge of who can hurt me now.”
Folks, that’s what we’re dealing with when it comes to Kenzie. She’s kinda selfish, kinda annoying and I kinda wish Lance would have moved on from her. He’s made a pretty darn good life for himself in New York while working for his grandfather. He and Kenzie were high school sweethearts that broke up before they both went to a different college. The storyline is made up of what if’s and why didn’t they…miscommunication at it’s finest. Kenzie is set to marry Will, a rich douchebag that treats her like crap, but hey, at least he didn’t dump her in high school like Lance. She wanted a lower key wedding, however since she’s marrying New York royalty (al la Sweet Home Alabama) that is not possible with the press wanting to know their every move. So, ta da, the wedding is moved to Lake Starlight and because Will’s family and Lance’s family don’t get along, Lance’s father makes him plan the wedding instead of using their employees on a wedding that shouldn’t even happen. Let the angst begin.
The book is well written, and I of course love the fact that the families are right in the face of Kenzie and Lance the entire time in pure Piper Rayne fashion. Especially Easton, who has a special part in the past demise of the estranged couple. While not my favorite couple, it was an interesting read and yes, Grandma Dori is still stirring the family pot. Hopefully Easton will get to tell his story next!
