The Third Cane Brother is the Charm!!
After getting to know Breaker Cane in A Not So Meet Cute and So Not Meant to Be, it’s finally Breakers turn to get the girl. Or at least try and get the girl.
Breaker Cane has been best friends with Lia for ten years. They are both funny and a little bit nerdy and completely comfortable around each other after such a long time. Always staying on the right side of the friend line, because ew that would be weird if they dated. As Breaker and Lia’s origin story unfolds, I was wondering if I would be able to handle my significant other having a best friend of the opposite sex and the answer is no. Rarely do you see the line not start to get blurred in said friendship and this case was no exception.
Lia is engaged, something she didn’t tell Breaker for a week. When he does finally find out, he instantly says as her best friend, he’s naturally her man of honor. Right there you know things are about to get crazy. Not to mention that Lia is marrying into a family that is the complete opposite of how she was raised. The situations these two find themselves in is hilarious and Breaker’s straight man to Lia’s nervous personality was brilliant.
I thoroughly enjoyed both of these characters. Breaker the billionaire that acts like the guy next door and Lia was sharp, very quick with the comebacks. As the book moved along, I wasn’t sure if I wanted them to become more than friends, but again, the guy girl best friend thing is rare and these two needed to S or get off of the pot already.
The book is well written in the pure Meghan Quinn style that I have grown to adore. Her characters are always so much fun with their texting back and forth and constant jabs at each other. These Cane brothers will be hard to beat. A Long Time Coming reads well as a standalone, however it’s much more fun learning about all of the brothers and how they came to be. Any Meghan Quinn fan will enjoy the callbacks with Ryot and Banner and of course my all time favorite, the guy with the best butt in baseball, Jason Orson!!
