The Perfect Fit For Me Right Now!

Whew! Kimberly Kincaid packed everything but the kitchen sink in The Guardian and I absolutely loved it! It was the perfect book fit for me at the moment. I needed something different and this was it. Nothing like a good, sexy mystery to solve in a few pages.

Matteo Garza is married to his job and lets everybody know it. He's kind of a d$ck if you will, but isn't going out of his way to impress anybody. He's a detective, he worked hard for it, he's good at it and if you don't like it (girlfriends) then get out. Matteo's sister has been friends with the quirky Delia for years, so when she ends up in some trouble, Matteo is there to help out as his sisters brother, the detective, nothing more.

Delia is quirky and that's putting it mildly, however I liked her. She read as a female Sheldon Cooper to me. Smart as a whip and no filter. She wasn't trying to be silly spouting all kinds of facts, that's just how she's wired. A brilliant woman that finds herself smack dab in the middle of some really bad stuff.

It wasn't hard to see that Matteo and Delia were going to click, his rough personality with her unconventional one is actually a perfect match, one I really enjoyed reading about. The book is well written and pretty much action-packed from the first page to the last. There is a lot going on in the book, but Kimberly Kincaid did a great job at keeping things straight and letting her readers know who everybody was and how they knew each other. This is my first book by her and I think I'm gonna check out the rest of this Intelligence Crew.

I was pulled right into this story. This story contains heartbreak, secrets, danger, and suspense.

If you have not already, I recommend reading the below before this one:
The Rookie (The Intelligence Unit, #1)

This is Delia and Matteo‘s story. Matteo is all about the job. He has worked very hard to get where he is and is proud of that. Delia is on the quirky side and she kind of spouts out weird facts. But she is super smart. When she falls into a little trouble Matteo steps in to help out. The banter and the danger will keep you turning the pages. These two had great chemistry and clicked right from the start. Can they solve the mystery and fall for each other along the way?

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book.
