I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, suspense, twists & turns, secrets, and heartbreak.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first:
Burning for Autumn (On Call #1)
Covering Ollie (On Call #2)
Tracking Tahlula (Police and Fire: Operation Alpha; On Call #3)

This is Jaimie and Trunk’s story. If you read the above books you met Trunk. He comes off gruff and a cynic but underneath all that is a fierce warrior. He will protect those that need protecting even if they think they don’t need protecting. He can be sweet when he needs to be but also stern if it calls for that. He grew up fast with really no role models but has turned into a role model. Jaimie is trying to overcome all that her ex did to the people she cares about. But when danger comes for her and her family will she be prepared or will she lose all that she cares for?

I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.


I highly recommend this book. 

Freya Barker loves writing about ordinary people with extraordinary stories. Driven to make her books about 'real' people; with characters who are perhaps less than perfect, but just as deserving of romance, thrills and chills, and their own slice of happy.
