Some Hockey and Lots of Drama!
Lucky Laces is the fourth book in Elise Faber’s Eagles Hockey series and the only one I’ve read. In this book, we follow head coach Diana "Dee Dee" Connors and hockey player Hudson Blackwood as they try to keep their steamy, off-limits romance under wraps.
The story kicks off with Dee catching her fiancé cheating, on the jumbotron in her arena, no less during her first game as head coach. To top it off, an earthquake hits after the game, when she’s called Hudson into her office for a talk, trapping her in the locker room with him. Thanks to all his internal monologue, we know this situation is great for him. The question is, will it be for her?
We’re on a warp-speed romance with these two. Sure, a catastrophic event brought them together, but they both feel like they’re exactly where they’re supposed to be. While I’m not a huge fan of insta-anything, Elise Faber pulls it off here, with plenty of rumbling background issues adding depth.
The book is well-written and checked all the boxes for me. Dee Dee and Hudson were strong leads on their own, but I always enjoy it when friends and family chime in with their two cents. Although it’s the fourth in the series, Lucky Laces reads well as a standalone.
