Took Me by Surprise.
Nicole French's latest novel, "Boyfriend of the Hour," is a captivating slow-burn opposites attract romance. Giovanna "Joni" Zola and Nathan Hunt are from different worlds: she, a former dancer constantly struggling with family dynamics and longing for acceptance; he, a successful but socially awkward plastic surgeon struggling with his own demanding family. These characters are hard not to fall for and despite their differences, Joni and Nathan complement each other perfectly, offering support, understanding, and a newfound sense of belonging. Their journey together is both heart wrenching and emotional, as they confront past traumas and navigate the intricacies of trust and love. Both Nathan and Joni have come so far you can’t help but root for these two to finally win.
The book is well written and is a refreshingly unique love story that tugs at the heartstrings. From page to page I didn’t even want to try and guess what was going to happen next. Boyfriend of the Hour reads as a standalone and I wouldn’t mind peeking in on the Zola family sometime soon to see what’s been happening.
