[Release Blitz + Review] Defensive Hearts by Alley Ciz

Who knew a simple selfie could be a recipe for disaster?

DEFENSIVE HEARTS by Alley Ciz is NOW LIVE!!

ABOUT THE BOOK.

Chance
The day I saw Gemma Steele’s delicious body wearing nothing but a few scraps of lace, I knew being traded was the least of my problems.
Her sexy text may not have been meant for me, but that image is not something a warm-blooded man could ever forget—no matter how badly he wants to. I’ve tried to resist her, but I can’t seem to escape Little Miss Suzy Sunshine. Every interaction is rife with tension and animosity, until it boils over, and we cross the point of no return.
That’s when I know I’m screwed, because now when I look at her, all I think is: Mine.
Who knew a simple selfie could be such a recipe for disaster?

Gemma
The first time I met Chance Jenson, I was into the whole broody-bad-boy thing.
But then he opened his mouth and I quickly realized he’s not just a little moody—he’s the grumpiest jerk to ever lace up a pair of hockey skates. I wasn’t having any part of it. I agreed to cook for his dogs, but promised myself that the only thing he would ever eat are his words.
I spent more than a year doing my best to hate him, but when Chance’s lips land on mine, I feel…conflicted.
I don’t want to want the jackass.
I certainly don’t want to have feelings for him.
Unfortunately for me, my heart seems to have other plans.
What the hell am I going to do?

**DEFENSIVE HEARTS is an enemies-to-lovers romcom filled with hella sexual tension featuring a sunshiny personal chef, a grumpy hockey player who’s jealous his dogs get all her love, and a sexy selfie that pushes this possessive alphahole over the edge. While this hilarious romance stands alone with its HEA, you won’t go wrong catching up with the best girl gang around–The Covenettes–in the rest of the BTU Alumni series.**

MY REVIEW.

4 Stars from Tiffany!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It’s Not You, It’s Me.

I’m not sure why, but I took this book for review not realizing it was number seven in the series. This time around we are focused on Gemma and Chance, an opposite attracts couple if I ever saw one.

Gemma is bright and bubbly with a great personality. She’s out to help whenever and wherever she can. Until mid-book, I didn’t realize the baggage she carried from her past, because she hid it so well. Chase was pretty much a douchebag from the get go. He’s a cocky professional hockey player that thinks women should fall at his feet. He’s finally found one he’s actually going to have to work for.

Alley Ciz gives readers quite the emotional, will they, won’t they roller coaster with these two. In one chapter they’re all in and by the next there’s some sort of miscommunication and it’s back to square one. While I wouldn’t call it angst, there was some hang time waiting to see if these crazy kids would finally admit what they’ve been saying to everybody else to each other.

The book is well written and there’s a lot of “in the head thinking” going on with Gemma that started to get to me. Plus, while the book read well as a standalone, I still felt like a bit of an outsider. Especially with the group texts. By book seven there are quite a few characters to keep track of and even with the glossary of who’s who in the beginning, I didn’t get the full effect of the friendships. It seems like I would have appreciated this book much more if read in order.

ALLEY CIZ is an internationally bestselling indie author of sassy heroines and the alpha men that fall on their knees for them. She is a romance junkie whose love for books turned into her telling the stories of the crazies who live in her head…even if they don’t know how to stay in their lane.

This Potterhead can typically be found in the wild wearing a funny T-shirt, connected to an IV drip of coffee, stuffing her face with pizza and tacos, chasing behind her 3 minis, all while her 95lb yellow lab—the best behaved child—watches on in amusement
