Crazy, Messy Love.

In this fourth installment of the Redemption series (and the only book I have read from the series), we learn more about Milo and Tessa. I’m guessing they were around in the previous books, however the focus is all them this time around.

Milo is a man of few words, but has lots of feelings he keeps to himself. He’s a brute on the outside and a giant teddy bear on the inside and I love this type of character. He’s a dad that wants nothing more than to have his young children back with him. Milo doesn’t have the best past, so cooking up the scheme of pretending Tessa was his fiancee seemed like a no-brainer to shine a better light on his life. No feelings between him and Tessa were involved, what could go wrong??

Tessa knows Milo on the surface, she has no idea who or what he is on the inside. He’s kind and generous and after finding herself in a bit of a pickle, there was no way she wouldn’t help Milo get his kids back.

“I see a warm glow that wants to bleed out, but it’s shuttered in pain.”

I liked both Tessa and Milo. He carried a lot of guilt, so there was always an expressing his feelings struggle with him, plus he seemed like a grunter, more than a talker, which I wasn’t a fan of. Tessa carries her own guilt as well and then seemed to not care much about her obligations when Milo came into the picture. I don’t know, while this is a romance, I wanted to see a bit more progression of the other issues rather than the Milo and Tess romance stuff.

The book is well written, maybe a smidge too mushy for my taste. At times it seemed like we were in their heads way too much. That said, there is quite a bit going on with these characters and a few curveballs I wasn’t expecting. Promise Me Always reads well as a standalone with a nice epilogue to wrap things up.

This is Tessa and Milo’s story. These two are both a little broken but they need each other in ways they never knew they would. He’s a father that wants his kids.  He can come off harsh but has a really sweet side that he does not let out often. He needs her help if she can be his fake fiancΓ©e he might be able to pull it off.  As long as it’s all fake. That have a lot of things going on and not everything goes as expected and makes for an interesting story.  Kept the pages turning, that’s for sure.

I recommend this book.
