Like I've Always Said...

Men and women can't be best friends. I know, I know, there is always the exception, however one usually develops feelings and the lines get blurred. That is exactly what happened with Xander and Clara. We knew from previous books something big went down with these two and we finally get their story.

"Maybe you can't be best friends with the opposite sex." ~ Xander

The blurb says it all, Xander and Clara crossed the line, he's a jackass, the end. What we get from the book is the backstory of these two kids. How it started and hopefully, how it is going to end with them together. My feelings towards Xander were hot and cold, same as his feelings for Clara. He was so wishy-washy it was driving me crazy. I applauded Clara for telling him that they can't be friends anymore. It's pretty much they date, or call it quits. It was too emotionally draining for both of them, as well as the reader.

The book is well written and I hate to say, not as angsty as I thought it would be, as there was quite the build up to Xander and Clara in previous books. That said, I loved the rest of the town and of course the entire Greene family chiming in with opinions at every turn. Piper Rayne has done a fabulous job with this series, as in keeping us readers up to speed on who everybody is and what they are up to. Oh and the grandmas! The grandmas get me every single time. They are the best, so funny! My Scorned Best Friend can be read as a stand alone, but will off much more when read within the series.
