MY REVIEW.

5 Stars from Tiffany!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Excellent Read!!

If you are looking for something to take you out of the romance "norm" this is the book to read. In Caging Grace, Carsen Lane gives her readers an uplifting story of determination, love and life.

"I take a deep breath before we enter the dank underground gym. It smells of desperation and broken dreams. I laugh without humor, some people have a soundtrack for thier lives, I have a theme. Desperation and broken dreams."

While this sounds like a woe is me tale, it couldn't be more different. Grace is a fighter in life and at the gym. She was dealt a pretty sucky hand and since she was a young girl, has done what she's needed to take care of her mother and sister. Sure it's a lot for a kid, however Grace's father honed her skills into nearly professional at a young age and this girl had no problem taking care of herself.

"Maybe our hurts just call out to each other. We would be stupid to act on it though. If you have too many broken pieces, you're bound to get cut."

She's been a gym rat for years, so everybody knows who Grace is and what she's doing. When she gets noticed by the right people, there may finally be a light at the end of the tunnel. Johnny is a trainer/fighter, a man with demons of his own if you will, who knows a guy that has an idea and just that quickly, Grace's life has a different trajectory. Johnny isn't the man for her and you can only hope they both realize it sooner rather than later.

Grace isn't easily accepting of this new path even while surrounded by her mentor Carl, another trainer Mason and Alasdair, the hidden gem in this book. These men become her team and more so, her family. Grace hasn't had it easy and to finally have that kind of love around her as she forged ahead in uncharted territory was heart warming.

"My entire life life I've felt as though I've been trapped in a cage. The cage of poverty. The cage of stigma. The cage of guilt and shame."

This book is beautifully written and I couldn't read it fast enough to see how it was going to end. It's a journey with this character, her ups and downs. By the end, you really understand who Grace is. I absolutely loved her strong, yet sensitive personality and the wisdom she lived by learned from her father. She was tough as nails and smart as a whip. Carsen Lane did a fantastic job with Grace, as well as all of the supporting characters. Each one had a special role in Grace's life. The book reads as a stand alone and sets up the next one in the series well.
