How Did I Miss the First Generation?!?

Off-Limits is the second generation of Rixon High and if I came away with anything from this book, it's that I really want to read about the parents now as well. In Off-Limits we are following Lily and Kaiden, offspring of Jason Ford and Lewis Thatcher, who are for some reason mortal enemies, so thier kids should be...ah well, at least they tried.

Lily was written as a strong girl waiting to finally come out of her shell. She's had some trauma in her past and for her senior year, wants nothing more than to be a "normal" high school kid. She has her sister Poppy and a gaggle of girlfriends and parents to help her out with the task at hand. Her plan was solid, until the one guy that is off limits catches her eye.

Kaiden is said boy, the one that is off limits which is fine by him, because he wants nothing to do with a Ford anyway. However, like Lily, Kaiden is going through some pretty heavy stuff and when "The Ford Girl" notices him for more than a football player, forbidden sparks start to fly.

There is quite a bit going on here and when you have one of those rich people high school settings, some of the problems are pretty hard to connect with. That said, L.A. Cotton did a nice job with the various storylines she was juggling. Not only do we have Lily and Kaiden to follow, there are the dads and thier past, as well as the set up for the next book.

Off Limits is well written and for a high school romance, kept me pretty interested...all of the background really drama helps. The book reads as a standalone, but personally I did feel like I was missing quite a bit by not reading the first generation series. I am a huge fan of an interconnected series that features all of the past and present characters, keeping tabs on everybody if you will. The next book sounds just as good and features another genre I'm a fan of, the age gap, so bring on Peyton's story!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR.

Author of over thirty mature young adult and new adult novels, LA COTTON is happiest writing the kind of books she loves to read: addictive stories full of teenage angst, tension, twists and turns.

Home is a small town in the middle of England where she currently juggles being a full-time writer with being a mother/referee to two little people. In her spare time (and when she’s not camped out in front of the laptop) you’ll most likely find LA immersed in a book, escaping the chaos that is life.
