Great MM Romance!
With Adoring Keaton, Siobhan Davis gives her readers glimpse in to what it's like for a closeted gay man to try and live a straight life. As a fan of the MM genre, this book ticked all of the boxes for me, angst, witty banter and some sexy. This is the ninth book in The Kennedy Boys series, and the only one I have read, however Siobhan Davis did a nice job of explaining everybody to me as we went along.
Keaton was written as a man with a plan, one that doesn't include his last name if he can help it. As a member of the famous Kennedy family, no not that one, he's ready to branch out on his own more and maybe, just maybe, live the life the way he was born to. After giving Austen Hayes, a guy who is famous himself, a ride home one night, Keaton starts to wonder about the handsome football player and what his deal really is.
Austen knows who Keaton Kennedy is, however isn't going to let the guy in that easily. What Austen doesn't realize is that Keaton knows more about his situation than he could ever imagine. Austen has played the game longer than Keaton, so it didn't take long for these two to know what the score was and I loved how straight out Austen was with Keaton trying to make him feel at ease with himself.
We are now on a journey of discovery, love and protection with Austen and Keaton. They are smitten with each other, but realize they each have some baggage and loose ends that need tied up. Some not as easy as others. I loved the way they instantly cared for each other and would do whatever was needed of them to make the other happy. It was a sweetness that carried throughout the book for me.
The book was well written and like I said, ticked off the boxes for me. It reads well as a standalone, with a nice epilogue. It seems that all of the previous characters are present and accounted for and coming in this late in the game, it made me want to know more about thier situations as well.
