BLURB.
Life as a professional hockey player keeps me plenty busy, and yet it often feels like I’m on autopilot as the world passes me by. I suppose I can’t complain. I have the honor of calling myself a New England Bay Shark, so I have more than enough money to buy some form of happiness.
Sleeping around with beautiful women may come with the territory, but I’ve never taken the time to actually get to know any of them. In fact, there’s only one I’ve relentlessly thought about, but she’s off-limits. Everyone knows you can’t go after your best friend’s little sister. Especially if he’s already forbidden it.
I’ve had a crush on Saylor Sawyer since I met her years ago, and even though I’ve spent many showers and nights alone creating my own fantasies, starring her, I know I can’t
act on those … filthy thoughts.
No matter how hot they are.
When a teammate hurts her badly, Saylor’s on the warpath, looking for sweet revenge. I just happen to be the lucky bastard sitting at the other end of the bar.
One hookup gets entangled with a lie, and things get complicated fast. But the lie wasn’t mine, and I’m going to make damn sure she knows it too.
See, the night she used me to get back at her ex awakened a beast inside of me. A beast that only wants Saylor Sawyer.
A beast that won’t stop until she’s mine.

Warnings Ignored…
As only the second New England Sharks book I’ve read, Bite Your Tongue fits well within the series and works great as a standalone. This one focuses on Ryder and Saylor—Ryder is on the team, and Saylor is his teammate's (Smith’s) little sister.
Smith has warned his teammates for years to stay away from Saylor, but that’s easier said than done. Saylor’s an independent woman, career-focused, living on her own, but she has this hang-up about needing a man to feel complete, in a way. She’s been pretty open about her flings in the past and hasn’t been ashamed of them... until now. After one guy crosses a line, Saylor starts to rethink what she really wants in life.
Ryder has always been a bit of a player. He’s definitely noticed Saylor but respected Smith’s warning and kept his distance. When he finds out what happened to her, he wants to protect her without coming off as a creep. One night, he sees her at a bar, tipsy and clearly looking to forget. He steps in, and from there, things escalate quickly.
For me, though, the chemistry between these two felt off. There was a strong insta-attraction, but then they tried to pull back, and their conversations didn’t land. Some of the dialogue felt awkward, and Ryder’s nickname for Saylor, Brat, really rubbed me the wrong way. I did appreciate that they tried to pivot from a hookup to something deeper, but by then, it felt forced and a little too late.
While the book was well written overall, I’ll admit to skimming through some of Ryder’s internal monologues. That said, the supporting cast, teammates, family, and friends helped round out the story and kept things grounded. As mentioned, Bite Your Tongue works well as a standalone, and the final chapters give a nice time jump that lets readers check in on this unlikely couple.
