The blurb pulled me in.  I love a good thriller withs lots of mystery.  This is the first book I have read from this author.  The mystery of the story and the plot grabbed you, but the delivery was just not my style.  By that I mean there were a ton of POVs and changing timelines that at times I was confused and had to stop reading and walk away from it.  Not only were there a lot of POVs but at times I was honestly not sure who was talking at any given time.  The back and forth is also frustrating and in my opinion hurts the flow of the story.  The story needs headers to list the timeline and who is speaking, and I think that would help with some of the confusion.

The book is based off the mystery of Jack the Tipper.  Anabella is deaf.  When her friend disappears, she becomes involved in the case the police was building.  She is tuned to people better and tends to read their body language better then other people.  But honestly you really don’t get a lot from her.  The book focuses on other POVs and not really hers the entire time.

Reviewed from an ARC supplied from the author for an honest review.  Not sure if it was the ARC I received or not, but the chapters were broken and some of the book was double spaced while other parts within the same paragraph and chapter were not.  It made reading even more distracting..

Sharlene Almond looks to bring a modern spin to Jack the Ripper and had me interested at the blurb. It's always fun to see what an author will do to a classic tale to modernize it.

While the book headed off into nice direction, lengthy set ups of who's who with a underlying tone of who done it, it was very hard to follow. I'm a fan of multiple POV, everybody getting a say in what's going on, or adding to the story, however there were so many in this book and certain points I didn't know who was talking. I like to read for fun and when a book starts to seem like work, I lose interested. With the changing POV's and semi-dragging plot I lost interest.

Initiated to Kill was a good attempt, but would benefit from some editing and tightening up of the story to make it great.
