BLURB.

What started as a bet can only end in heartache.
Moving to the middle of nowhere right before my senior year wasn’t ideal.
Then again, neither was my brother dying.
The move was supposed to be a fresh start.
A new town, a new school, a new mindset.
Too bad my past indiscretions followed me.
Enter Jace Rivera, the literal boy next door.
Jace is loved by the town. Admired by his peers. Worshipped by his teammates.
On the basketball court, he’s a god amongst men.
Off the court, he’s… nothing at all like I expected.
He’s profound and pure and… devastatingly tortured.
Yet somehow, he offers me light while I offer him hope.
In the end, we’ll either hurt or heal each other.
There’s no in between.
“Pain is the price we pay for love,” he once told me.
And a broken heart is the consequence of it.

MY REVIEW.

5 Stars from Tiffany!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If I could give Chasing Harlow ten stars, I would without hesitation.

Jay McLean takes readers on a powerful emotional journey with Chasing Harlow. While the blurb sets the stage, it's the intricate details that truly captivate. We meet two deeply wounded characters whose pain keeps us glued to each page, hoping they'll find solace and begin truly living their teenage lives.

Harlow, at just seventeen, exudes a haunting maturity. Moving to a new town seems like a fresh start, but with her troubled mother in tow, true change feels elusive. Then there's Jace Riveria, the enigmatic boy next door. Beneath his aloof exterior lies a friendliness that draws Harlow in. Little does she know, he's harboring his own scars.

Their friendship, sparked by a bet reminiscent of a 90s movie, slowly unravels their hidden depths. The angst is palpable, urging you to devour the pages while simultaneously wishing to prolong the experience. The resolution, when it comes, feels satisfyingly earned.

McLean's writing is skillful; despite their youth, Harlow and Jace feel mature beyond their years, though some steamy scenes may surprise. Yet it's the characters' rich support systems of friends and family that truly shine, seamlessly woven into the narrative without overshadowing the protagonists. Chasing Harlow stands solidly on its own, offering a poignant epilogue that hints at a promising future.
