A Little Fish Out of Water Tale

What a cute fish out of water, or even a slight opposites attract, age gap read. There’s a lot going on in The Billionaire and the Runaway from beginning to end.

Ariana is a recent college graduate and a bit of a “poor little rich girl” looking to make it on her own. She applies to be the Social Media Director at a farm in the small town of Storyview Falls and gets the job. Finally, out from under her fathers thumb, Ariana starts small town life on her own. Eric, the owner of the farm and hirer of Ariana, knows the minute he meets her, he’s in trouble. The klutzy young woman brings some life to the farm he didn't realize he was missing.

I really liked Eric and Ariana, separately and together. They both had secrets, not huge ones mind you, but ones that kept them both from wanting to take that next step. As Ariana gets used to farm life, Eric watches and wonders if he could ever love again. They work together with others on the farm and as things improve business-wise, they also improve between the two of them. Once the kitten aptly named Thor joins in, all is lost.

The book is well written, sweet and sexy all in one. While the angst is low and quickly resolved, the supporting characters made up for that in my mind. I enjoy when everybody in the small town knows your business and is constantly trying to advise, which is the case here. The Billionaire and the Runaway reads well as a standalone with a cute epilogue to peek in on everybody.
