Not Sure About This Rockstar.

While I am a huge fan of Gina Azzi’s hockey series, I wasn’t too sure about this moody rockstar, Derek when it was all said and done. In Rebellious Rockstar, we meet Derek and Allegra, as well as the other members of The Burnt Clovers band.

Allegra and Levi, a member of The Burnt Clovers, are bother and sister. Derek, Levi, Maverick and Jameison are bandmates. Allegra has crushed on Derek for years and had a spectacular kiss with him when she was seventeen. She’s twenty-one now, a little lost in her life at school and home and decides to go stay with her brother for a bit to get to know him again, as well as figure out what she wants to do in the future.

Derek seems like an emotional mess from his upbringing and while he does have feelings for Allegra, she’s his best friend’s little sister and we all know the rule. I wasn’t a huge fan of Derek. He did the one thing that drives me crazy with these guys, he tries to forget a girl that he can’t have by going through many others. Ugh. Men. That seems to be his M.O. for quite a while, trying to forget that one kiss with Allegra, while completely leading her on throughout the story.

The book is well written; however, I didn’t feel a connection to either main character. That said, Maverick was hilarious and added the humor this heavy book needed. I’m a fan of Gina Azzi’s writing and think I will stick with her hockey players.
