MY REVIEW.

4.5 Stars from Tiffany!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

On the Fence at First.

Whew, what a strange feeling it was to have Jane Blythe completely change my mind about this story a little less than half way through her book. What started out as kind of slow and slightly irritating to me, made a whole lot of sense as I kept going.

We are introduced to a group of friends, all at different levels of romance, different jobs and some related through marriage. There really isn't a main focus, rather we are going through the days with each character as this crazy story unfolds. Summer is more front and center than the others because she hates Valentine's Day, so that's right where we start.

There was something about Summer I didn't like at all and that's what kept me from enjoying this book at first. She was such a Debbie Downer and everybody tying to "help" Summer all of the time while she was just blah. That said, I do realize she was the catalyst for the rest of the story to fall into place, so I kept plugging along. Summer is introduced to Luke, who is her best friends brother and who also has quite the past to try and move on from. However, unlike Summer, he's not super irritating about it.

As Luke pursues Summer, the murders start to unfold in the background. This is where Jane Blythe started to shine. It isn't creepy enough that they've named the murderer The Nursery Rhyme Killer, it's the actions the killer takes. Pretty sick at times and dare I say clever. Once we start getting some coincidences and suspects, I was all in until the end.

The book is well written and pretty heavy. Summer was annoying, as was her secret, maybe not necessarily the secret, but the fact that she didn't know what was going on right under her nose? I didn't like that aspect of the story at all, but again it's made up for in my mind with the rest of the story that is unfolding around her. The book reads as a standalone with a second one teed up nicely.
