[Release Blitz + Review] The Godparent Trap by Rachel Van Dyken

THE GODPARENT TRAP by Rachel Van Dyken is NOW LIVE!!

ABOUT THE BOOK.

Life's Too Short meets The Unhoneymooners in this sparkling, steamy, and swoon-worthy novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Rachel Van Dyken, in which two sworn enemies must share house, home—and maybe their hearts—when they become co-parents after a sudden loss.

Colby's living her best life: as a popular food blogger, she gets to fulfill her dreams of exploring the globe. But her world comes crashing down when a tragic accident leaves her co-guardian of her best friend's two adorable children. Not only does she need to put down roots—fast—but she'll be sharing custody with the one man she can't stand sharing a continent with, let alone a house.

Accountant-extraordinaire Rip values rules and plans. But when he loses his sister and his best friend and becomes an insta-guardian all in one night, Rip sees his organized life imploding. What he really doesn't need is his sister's irresponsible, flighty—albeit kind and gorgeous—best friend making it worse.

Rip doesn't trust Colby to take their new responsibilities seriously, while Colby can't believe Rip thinks children will thrive under his rigid control. Yet soon Rip and Colby discover they need each other more than they hate each other. Could it be possible that following their hearts is just what their new little family needs?

MY REVIEW.

5 Stars from Tiffany!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A Great Making it Work Story

While I haven't seen Life's Too Short, the movie this book is similar to, I will say I absolutely loved the opposites attract aspect of the characters in The Godparent Trap, along with two little hell raisers to bring on the laughs.

From the blurb, it's obvious Colby and Rip have some things to work through as they try and be godparents to these kids entrusted to them. Colby is fly by the seat of your pants, while Rip is what time is that flight, because I have to be prepared. These two were hilarious! Rip was so rigid it was funny and Colby played off of that brilliantly. When he wasn't down right mean, I liked the banter that these to characters had, especially the texts. As a huge fan of texts or emails in books, I loved the way RVD formatted hers. It was like we were reading over the shoulder of the texter. That said, there is a lot to unpack for these characters before they can make their new little family work.

"The best part about Colby wasn't the perfection, no, it was the small imperfections she didn't care about that made her a good aunt."

Rip could see this about Colby from a mile away, however took forever to realize she may be the woman for him after all. There are a lot of ups and downs as the storyline progresses and tons of laughs with the antics surrounding the kids and an old cat named Stu. It was fun to see Rip's eyes opening to a different life page by page, actually realizing he may be able to pull this off after all.

"I wanted to crazy. Not the easy."

The book is well written and I realized I missed Rachel Van Dyken's writing style. So carefree and funny, but yet still serious when it needs to be. She's a great emotion balancer if you will. While Colby and Rip, along with the kids, take up most of the book, we also have Rip's funny friend Banks and a nosey next door neighbor to round out the cast. The Godparent Trap reads as a standalone with a nice epilogue letting readers peek in to see how everything is going.
