Her Best Yet!!
Megan Quinn has been a favorite of mine for years and this book is why. Sure we know what's going to happen with the crazy couple featured, it's the everything in-between that keeps me coming back for more.
Fans of the series have met JP and Kelsey in Not So Meet Cute, they are the brother and sister of that couple respectively. It was annoyed at first site for in that book, which has now traveled to this one. Personally, I liked both and wasn't sure how they were going to get along after being thrown together for two weeks. There is a lot to unpack with each emotionally, as they have a past that seems to be holding them back.
JP is a well known ladies man. He is rich, handsome and get this, bored with his life. Something he's kept to himself for years. JP sees Kelsey as his opposite. She's vibrant and full of life. Making lemons out of lemonade whenever possible, which irritates the hell out of him. Her only downfall is that she's looking for love too eagerly in JP's mind. In my mind, her insecurities drove me a little crazy at times. These two are a perfect fit on paper, however in reality are a nightmare.
"If I want love, I need to go find it."
And she sure is trying to find it when actually, it's right under her nose. Kelsey has blinders on when it comes to JP and he doesn't help matters by running hot and cold constantly. All of this is going on while they are working on a huge project for the company and readying themselves for thier siblings wedding, where they are maid of honor and best man. There is so much going on in this book. Plus the fact that no matter how hard she tries, she can't guess what JP stands for-a beautifully placed running gag in the storyline.
The book is well written and as funny as it is sexy and down right sweet if you want to get into it. I've said it once and I'll say it again, Meghan Quinn's books are a delight to read because she writes with a casual tone and when she's got a nervous chatty character it's absolute perfection. When that character appears, we are hit with tea-bagging, The Office references and my favorite, the witty banter, which is in text as well as email form this time around. I don't know why, but I absolutely love that! Oh! Also, two words for Megan Quinn fans...Jason Orson. It always comes down to Jason Effing Orson. So Not Meant to Be reads as a standalone with a cute little epilogue.
