Tough One For Me
Back to Rixon High we go and this time we take a closer look at Ashleigh and Ezra's relationship, or whatever it is they have going on. With such a rocky start, I couldn't wait to see how it was going to play out.
L.A. Cotton did a nice job at setting the situation up for Ezra in previous books. He was the "odd man out" in the friend circle if you will. A darker past than the rest, no family like the rest, so it was difficult for him to feel like he fits in anywhere. Even with his foster family finally making him one of thier own. I felt for the guy, however his assholey-ness got real old real fast. That combined with the woe is me Ashleigh made this a tough read for me.
Ashleigh had a major set back in her young life and while tragic, she was really getting on my nerves with her constant whining. She was with Ezra before and trying to figure things out now was interesting and annoying all at once. She needed to be a stronger character in my eyes to go up against Ezra. It would have made more sense. I am all for the a-hole guy that changes your mind by the end of the book, however like the girl to have a bit more backbone to her.
The book is well written and I love interconnected stories, so all previous characters are present and accounted for, chiming in with thier two cents. Ruined Hopes was a nice addition to the Rixon High series and it looks like Aaron and Poppy are up next.
