It Missed the Mark a Bit...
In this fourth book in the Fragile Hearts series (and the only one I've read) the focus is on Gabe and Mia. They have family and friends helping to move the story along and I am guessing that Gabe's army buddies are in the first three books, as they seem like a tight knit group.
"We're a story unfinished. A manuscript left on the side, collecting dust."
After she dumped him in the worst way six years ago, Mia still longs for Gabe. She dumped him as he laid injured in a hospital bed, however after knowing more about her, I did understand where she was coming from a little more. The thing was, she lacked communication skills, they both did and were immature about the breakup, which made the story annoying for me. That parlayed into zero chemistry from beginning to end.
There's a reason Mia is looking for Gabe after six years and it's an important one, but accepting a job as his assistant, in my eyes wasn't the way to go. It made it worse for the story. It was too put on and became extremely predicable. I did like the curve ball that the author threw in towards the finish line and how we jumped in time to finally see where these two end up.
The story is well written, however wasn't my cup of tea. It read as a standalone with a nice epilogue to wrap things up.
