Another Slow Burn, but I was Ready This Time
Like A Study in Seduction, A Passion for Pleasure takes us right back to London, Circa 1800's, with the Hall family. This time it's younger brother Sebastian, who has some personal problems and meets a young lady with her own set of problems. Little do they know how much they can help each other out.
We met Sebastian in the first book and to me, he came off as a guy that knew he could get any woman he wanted and most likely did. He was an arrogant man, a fine musician and he knew it. The Sebastian we meet this time around has a way different attitude and I was glad in a way, to see him knocked down a few pegs.
Clara was a woman on a mission and the one man that can help her, she's been in awe of for years...her former piano teacher, Sebastian Hall. However, like me, this wasn't the Sebastian she is used to seeing. Either way, he's a means to her end for the moment.
There's a bit of a pattern to these books so far, which makes sense with the Hall brothers as the star. They have an ugly secret in thier family and like his brother, Sebastian's father thinks it's time he settles down. Again like his brother, Sebastian finds himself attracted to a girl that isn't his usual type and has a pretty big secret.
The book is well written and the fun is finding out what the big reveal is. I liked a more modest Sebastian this time around and that he morphed even more as the story moved along. Clara was a good choice for him, helping him figure out the man he can be. A Passion for Pleasure can be read as a standalone.
