The Best Yet!!
In this third installment of the Hearts & Horsepower series, Ryker and Scarlet are by far my favorite couple, as compared to the others. Sure there was the same kind of B.S. drama, but these two seemed to handle it a little bit better.
Well, we finally get to meet the reason that Ryker is a grump all of the time. It wasn't a secret that it was a girl, however the story of him and said girl is pretty heavy and sad. These two wasted a ton of time being stubborn over a dumb rule made when they were teenagers.
"How I managed to encourage them to fix the messes they'd made, but I hadn't been able to fix my own was beyond me."
Ryker was the voice of reason when it came to love in the performance auto shop. He was doling out the advice to Logan and Knox, while not heeding it himself. Something nobody understood when it came right down to it. Ryker made the love of his life promise not to call him for seven years and then when she doesn't he's surprised...um what?? While thier story was a little on the irritating side, however I liked Scarlet more than Avery or Kendall. She wasn't as clingy or whiney as they were.
The book is well written and in what seems to be the theme in Hearts & Horsepower, we need to wade through quite a bit of miscommunication to figure out what is really going on with these two. Also, A.K. Evans threw a bit more drama/angst in this storyline that upped the ante for me. As with the first two books, we keep in touch with all of the previous guys and gals at the shop and Elise is up next. Great little intro to her book at the end!

While she enjoys writing a good romantic suspense novel, Andrea’s favorite books to write have been her extreme sports romances. That might have something to do with the fact that she, along with her husband and two sons, can’t get enough of extreme sports.
