[Release Blitz + Review] The Drawback of Single Dads by Piper Rayne

The Drawback of Single Dads by Piper Rayne is now live!!

ABOUT THE BOOK.

He’s the father of my child and my best friend.

When Hudson and I met, somehow things just clicked between us. We had the same sense of humor and the same carefree attitude about our lives and goals. Neither of us wanted to lay down roots, we wanted to explore the world.

Then one night, too much alcohol and uncontrolled hormones led to the line blurring, and we fell into bed together only to discover a month later that we were more careless than we thought.

Like the upstanding guy he is, Hudson followed me back to my hometown of Lake Starlight, Alaska, where you can’t throw a penny and not hit one of my family members. We gave them the news that yes, we were having a baby but there would be no wedding. We loved each other but we weren’t in love.

Fast forward three years and we live side by side to make co-parenting our daughter easy. I’m a writer, and he’s a ski instructor. We’ve worked out all the rough edges. Life is good.

Until out of nowhere, things start to change. He has a girlfriend, we’re arguing more than ever, and it feels as if someone has come along and popped our perfect bubble. I’m not sure we’re ever going to fit back inside it now because things are developing. Things like feelings.

MY REVIEW.

4.5 Stars from Tiffany!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Story Within the Story.

In The Drawback of Single Dads, it’s Palmer’s turn to use Grandma Dorie’s special cabin to help her writer’s block, not to get together with her baby-daddy. No way. Not that guy.

Palmer’s baby-daddy is Hudson, handsome professional snowboarder extraordinaire and all around good guy if you ask me. He now lives right next door to Palmer and little Adley, their daughter. He’s trying to make his daughter’s life as structured as possible. Sure, it’s not convenient to live next door to the two girls he loves the most, but that’s how Palmer wants it. That’s how she gets it…she’s an odd duck.

Palmer turns her nose to love because her parents started out pretty rough. It was way before she knew what was going on, however she let it control her feelings about love from the moment she found out. Not believing in love, she does believe in family and that’s what she and Hudson are with Adley, a family. Now that Hudson has dared to get serious with someone else, Palmer finally starts to think twice about her situation.

This was a slow burn with all of the moving parts between the main characters and of course Buzz Feed, (we get a huge reveal with the gossip site!). Hudson was so sweet and patient with Palmer. He knew what he wanted, always did, but gave her the space she thought she needed. Palmer was a little more difficult to understand, her fears were real, however from something that didn’t really make sense to me. I loved how she was a romance author and was writing a book as readers are reading her story. I wasn’t sure about it at first, however it definitely grew on me!

The book is well written and a great addition to the Lake Starlight series. Along with Palmer and Husdon, the cousins, retirement home residents and the whole damn town are present to help move the story along. Although part of a series, The Drawback of Single Dads reads well as a standalone, however is much more fun when read within the series.
