MY REVIEW.

5 Stars from Tiffany!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Pleasantly Surprised!

While I’m not the first one to pick up a Christmas book in October, I am usually right there when a new Piper Rayne read is released. Clause and Effect had me pleasantly surprised, loving it from the first page to the last.

The book starts out a little oddly and then follows that theme until the end. Due to some outside influence, Tess finds herself heading west to reconnect with the man of her dreams. Sure, it didn’t seem like much when she told him it wouldn’t work out, but now it’s all she can to get across country to reconnect, unbeknownst to him, at Christmas. Tre is also heading west to spend Christmas with his family. He’s military, been away for a while and isn’t the man they knew before he left. He’s changed and most would say for the worst. So here we have two people traveling alone, during the holidays, as well as during a snowstorm. What could possibly go wrong?!?!?

I liked Tess and Tre right off the bat, maybe not for each other though. She’s been dealt a bad hand in life, so she’s a bit of a sad sack, woe is me type, to Tre’s closed off military type. There’s a lot of emotional baggage between the two of them to say the least. The witty banter is what kept me in the game. Tre didn’t care that she was a woman, he was going to give it right back to Tess whenever she threw a verbal jab. I found it hilarious. They were a definite “need to get to know you” personality type before I could see them together.

Hilarity ensues from the flight to the rental car place, to the strangers on a several days long road trip, all the while getting to know one another. Sometimes it’s easier to talk to a stranger and that was the motto of the storyline in my eyes.

The book is well written and chock full of supporting characters that made it that much better. It’s not all Santa Clause and candy canes though, there’s some heavy stuff and a curve ball I didn’t see coming to really make me pick up my reading speed. Claus and Effect is a stand-alone with a cute epilogue to wrap things up.
