BLURB.

Sophie Belmonte has dealt with her fair share of judgment. People take one look at her and think they’ve got her all figured out. Nice cars, fancy clothes, impeccable manners. She’s got more money than she knows what to do with.

When someone steals one of Sophie’s most beloved possessions, she hires the very best to investigate and get it back for her.

Working as a private investigator for years, Jax Turner has come into contact with a variety of clients. But there’s never been anybody like Sophie. As much as he wants to whisk her away to his bed, he knows she’s way out of his league.

But if Jax can get to the bottom of this case and find Sophie’s stolen item, maybe he’ll be able to dazzle her with his mind.

Because a woman with that much money would never give him a second glance, otherwise.

But that’s where he’s mistaken.

Sophie’s not the woman everyone thinks she is. She just needs Jax to give her the chance to prove it.

MY REVIEW.

4 Stars from Tiffany!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Love at Warp Speed

In Mistaken by A.K. Evans, the spotlight is on Jax, a private investigator at Harper Ops Security. It seems like all the guys find their love somehow through the security company and it was interesting to see how his was going to play out.

Jax is a no-nonsense guy, what you see is what you get. He’s got a bit of a troubling past from his time in the service however hasn’t let that dictate his life. While not necessarily on the lookout for a woman, one does catch his eye the minute she steps in the building looking for his services. No, not those kind of services…. yet.

To me Sophie came across as a rich, insecure little girl lost. I don’t know what it was, but I wasn’t a fan of hers from the get-go. She seemed “off” for some reason and my mind didn’t change about her as I kept reading. Sophie needed Jax’s private investigation talents to help her find a few of her expensive cars that had been stolen, however after one look, she was smitten with him and wanted to get to know him better.

The book is well written as a bit of a whodunit romance; however, I didn’t feel the chemistry was there between Jax and Sophie. Her character felt desperate for a man, any man and Jax happened to be there. That said, I did like the mystery and smidge of angst the carnapping played in the background, which kept me turning the pages. Mistaken is a nice addition to the Harper Ops series that reads as a standalone with an epilogue peek into the future.

AUTHOR BIO.

A.K. EVANS is a contemporary romance author of over forty published novels. While she enjoys writing a good romantic suspense novel, Andrea’s favorite books to write have been her extreme sports romances. That might have something to do with the fact that she, along with her husband and two sons, can’t get enough of extreme sports.

Before becoming a writer, Andrea did a brief stint in the insurance and financial services industry and managed her husband’s performance automotive business. That love of extreme sports? She used to drive race cars!

When Andrea isn’t writing, she can be found homeschooling her two sons, doing yoga, snowboarding, reading, or traveling with her family. She and her husband are currently taking road trips throughout the country to visit all 50 states with their boys.
