Still Selfish.

Ugh, I really, really wanted to like Nerida this time around, yet still found her actions so selfish when it came to Aslan. Sadly, this review will be vague to not spoil the storylines.

“The thing with trauma is you can say you’re done living in its shadow and pretend that you’re okay, but until that trauma is done with you…you can’t be free.”

We picked up right where we left off in Lunamare. Aslan and Nerida are still fighting for their love and having it thwarted every step of the way. I really wanted the road to be a little easier for them this time around, but we don’t always get what we want…

It is obvious what must happen to Aslan from the first book and now it’s time to wonder if he will be able to handle what awaits him. Nerida is his life, however there is another life that wants him just as bad. I loved how there was more focus on Aslan this time around. We got to see how strong of a man he really turned out to be. Nerida was a different story. Growing into a selfish woman, just like the selfish girl she’s always been. I had a really hard time with her character. She was a complete drama queen and it got old, real fast.

Pepper Winters takes readers on another epic journey with Aslan, Nerida, her parents, their friends and more. While I wanted to see a changed, more appreciative Nerida, Aslan made up the difference for me. He was the star this time, along with Eddie and Teddy. Now there’s two that need their own book. Cor-Amare cannot be read as a standalone and be appreciated.
