MY REVIEW.
4.5 Stars from Tiffany!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Lots of Emotion Here.
In Break the Ice we are introduced to Aurora and Noah, two college students going through life. Ha! If it were only that easy.
Aurora finds herself rooming with her slightly estranged brother while waiting for repairs on her place. He’s a hockey star on the school team and rooms with a couple of teammates, Noah and Conner. They are all gods on campus and there are puck bunnies galore, something Aurora didn’t think about before moving in. Due to some issues in her last, namely her superficial mother, Aurora’s self esteem is shot. She’s also had bad luck with men and these hockey boys aren’t making it easy.
Noah seems like a sweetheart with a dark past himself. He imbibes like his teammates when it comes to the puck bunnies and is having a hard time with Aurora. She’s not his “usual” but has quite the hold on him from the get go.
I liked both of these characters, however wasn’t sure they were right for each other. Aurora has been hurt, deeply and Noah’s words didn’t feel like enough at times. That said there was also a lot of good in these two, they just needed to figure out how to move on from their pasts.
The book is well written, although a smidge slow at times. LA Cotton did a great job making the supporting characters as interesting as the main characters. Break the Ice reads as a stand alone with one heck of an epilogue.
MEET L.A. COTTON.
Author of over thirty mature young adult and new adult novels, LA COTTON is happiest writing the kind of books she loves to read: addictive stories full of teenage angst, tension, twists and turns.
Home is a small town in the middle of England where she currently juggles being a full-time writer with being a mother/referee to two little people. In her spare time (and when she’s not camped out in front of the laptop) you’ll most likely find LA immersed in a book, escaping the chaos that is life.
