Excellent First Book

Amanda Cuff gives her readers quite the start to the story of home grown Chase and ready for a change Addison.

As the blurb says, Addison is rudely awakened from what she thought was a good life by her cheating fiancรฉ. Looking for a quick escape to clear her mind, she winds up in Colorado and instantly in front of the handsome Chase Prescott. Even his name is dreamy.

Addison is a woman that knows what she wants, or at least thought she did. She’s lived her life for her father and now that it’s crumbling before her eyes-she decides it’s time to make it her own. I liked Addison right off the bat. She was smart and edgy, ready to move on. Sure she had that wishy-washy side every so often, but I let it slide with all that was going on around her. I only hoped it was going to get easier for her.

Chase is a man’s man. Working for his father’s construction company, only knowing small town life. The city slicker renting the cabin next door is all new to him, someone he wouldn’t mind getting to know better. I also liked his character instantly, mellow and down to earth. Who knew he would be hiding so much??

Deciding this was a vacation fling, things were hot and heavy with this couple pretty quick and was over just as fast. She went back to the city and he went back to his life until she comes back into town.

The book is well written and along with Chase and Addison, we have their best friends Drake and Olivia respectively, as well as a hand full of friends and family to flesh out the story. While the story kept my interest, we are left with a lot of loose ends to tie up in the second installation.

Great Series!

Amanda Cuff delivers a solid romance duet with All That Lies Between Us and All That Lies Ahead. I couldn't read the first book fast enough to see how it was going to end and didn't want to keep reading the second one because I knew how it would end. This review may spoil book one.

We jump right into the Chase and Addison drama, throwing in Willow and Emily this time for good measure. While we were led to believe something was "off" when Drake was showing Willow's pictures at lunch, the secrets are revealed this time around. Maybe not secrets, but things that weren't mentioned by Chase when he was the "vacation boyfriend". Things that change future plans of a baby mama if you will.

I'll tell ya, Chase is written too good to be true. This guy goes with the flow and has the biggest heart ever. Even at his lowest, I cut him some slack because he was such a solid guy deep down. Same with Addison, great head on her shoulders, regardless with what she eventually learns of Chase's living situation. Even though it was revealed early on, the Chase, Emily, Willow and Drake dynamic was going to be interesting to see how it played out. Talk about a lot of moving parts in a storyline.

The book is well written and Amanda Cuff did a nice job at taking her time with the various situations surrounding each character. They all needed attention and she balanced that well to give her readers a very heartwarming romance. Although I knew what was going to happen, I will admit to welling up a little bit while reading, as I was that invested in these characters. All That Lies Ahead finishes the In Between Duet nicely, with a little epilogue to wrap things up.
