ABOUT THE BOOK.

Reporter Avery Dearborn hasn't had the best day. She was filmed fending off a lovesick dog before being rescued from falling flat on her face by none other than her arch nemesis. Seattle firefighter Brad Battle hasn't changed at all in the five years since she last saw him. He's still handsome, hot, and charming—to everyone but her.

Brad can't believe his bad luck to run into Avery, of all people. But to make matters worse, their shared chemistry on screen goes viral. Soon he's forced to work with her for a popular online live streaming segment. The spot will help the local animal charity and make the fire department look good, so who is he to disobey a direct order to cooperate?

Trust takes time, but as Avery and Brad come to realize they are different people than when they first met, anger turns to irresistible attraction, and hard feelings into hot sex. But letting the past stay in the past isn't as easy as it sounds. And if they're not careful, that attraction could ignite and they'll both get burned.

**TRIGGER WARNING: book has mention of the hero's tragic past, involving a friend's suicide.

OUR REVIEWS.

4 Stars from Renee!
⭐⭐⭐⭐

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, and heartbreak.

This is Avery and Brad’s story. These two have crazy chemistry but are at odds. He was a war hero, and she did an article on him that he was not incredibly happy with. Since then, they really don’t like each other. Now after being seen together, they are forced to work close together at an animal shelter. Neither is happy but all the chemistry has them pushing each other’s buttons. Soon all the close work turns into something more. But he is still fighting demons over what he lost before the article, and he is having trouble letting it go. The more they move forward with a relationship the move that is still in the back of his mind. Can he let go or will he have to give up on the idea of having a future with Avery?

I recommend this book.

Marie Harte is a brand spanking new to me author and color me impressed y'all. Her new release Make Me Burn was all kinds of good, sexy, swoony, fun, packed with all of the feels, and had me burning in all the very best ways. Avery and Brad lit up my kindle from the moment they stepped into the page, stole a small piece of my heart during their journey, and I was hooked until the very last word.

This is the first standalone in the Turn Up the Heat series and I'm super excited to check out the others coming soon in this series.

I definitely recommend this book.
