3.5 Stars from Renee!

The story has grief, second chances, secrets, and heartache.

This the Katie and Logan’s story. Katie buried her husband and her heart right along with him or so she thought. She knows she has her one great love and does not expect to ever find love again. Logan made a deathbed promise that he to this day is still having trouble keeping. He has his own secrets that could hurt people if they came out. When he asks Katie to dance one night he never expected it to go the way it did. But will the secrets that he is keeping come out in the end and rip them apart?

I had some trouble connecting with these characters. So, I kept putting the book down and coming back to it later. I really can’t put my finger on exactly what kept me from just reading through, but it took me more then one sitting to get into the story and in the end, I still felt disconnected from it.

The story was good but I really wish I could have connected with it a little better. This will not keep me from trying a different story from this author as I enjoyed the writing.

Immature Insta-love

Well, I don't really know where to start with a review for this book. Right off the bat, I could tell we weren't going to get along. While the blurb sounded great, it wasn't the heavy read I expected.

Insta-love, or lust in this case isn't my go to thing and this book was chock full of it. Logan and Katie were saying thier I Love You's after four days. Yikes. As the blurb says, Logan is a SEAL whose best friend, Ryan died and now he's going to claim Ryan's wife, the girl HE actually let get away all those years ago. While that sounds romantic, the immature way it's written really sucked all the romance right out of it.

Logan and Katie are in love, yet she has no idea who he really is and her friends are zero help when it comes to making good decisions. I'm guessing these characters are getting close to thirty, however they all, even the SEALS, act like they are in high school with the stuff they say and the way they act. I had a really hard time connecting with this story line.

Raised all over the country, I'm a interesting mix of East Coast meets West Coast with a little bit of Southern thrown in, just for good measure. I married a sexy man in uniform who let me spawn and am now raising a mutinous army of hell raisers that I created myself, all while he defends our country. I drink too much coffee until it's late enough to drink too much wine and am sexually frustrated for your freedom. If you see me online, I'm probably sitting in a closet, hiding from my kids.

Fluent in smarcasm, Supernatural, and song lyrics, I like talking to people and finding what makes them tick, though that probably has to do with the Psychology degree. I’m up before the sun because my kids don’t sleep, chugging tea and coffee to keep my eyes open and my brain semi functional. Being married to a man in uniform means I’ve lived a lot of places, survived seeing my husband for half the amount of time I’ve been married, and spent a lot of time raising my kids alone.  I love to write messed up psychos with lots of angst, happily ever afters that have to be worked for. Women with sass and backbone, men with a twisted hero complex and the need to control are my favorite to read as well as write.
