Six months ago, I gave my heart to a girl.
Beautiful, kind, and sexy as sin, she's the only person who saw past my record or the color of my skin. Who ever saw me for me.
She loved me enough to let me go, let me leave this city to find my own path.
But without her, I drift, lost without direction.
Without me, she spirals, desperate for connection.
I gave my heart to a girl, and she gave hers to me.
But love shouldn't hurt this much.

I am a Glutton for Punishment...
That or Nicole French writes one hell of a blurb. Lost Ones is some sort of continuance of Bad Idea, which I didn't realize until it was too late. Both books irritated me to no end. They are long and never have a freaking ending.
When we left Nico and Layla, she was calling him crying and asking for help. He's in LA and she's in New York. In Lost Ones, we do not start at that point what so ever. Actually, that point isn't until the 80% mark. So there is tons and tons of story to even catch up where we left off the first time. See? Irritating.
This couple is tragic from beginning to end. They have awful reasons for not staying together and at one point, I wished that Nico would stay in LA with Jess and forget about Layla altogether. He seemed like a nice guy being drug into her drama over and over, looking like the loser he thinks he is.
Layla's friend Quinn was my favorite this time around. She cut Layla no slack in telling her how dumb her choices were over and over. Quinn was absolutely sick of living in Layla's drama-filled world and told her that every chance she got. I agree. It was enough.
Like the first one, this book irritated me to no end because it was long and went in circles and once again, no ending. The end...ish to be exact. Nicole French won't fool me again. I am done with Nico and Layla, only wishing them the best from here on out.

Nicole French is an East Coast/West Coast hybrid creature, Springsteen fanatic, hopeless romantic, and complete and total bookworm. When not writing or teaching about writing, she is hanging out with her family, playing soccer with the rest of the thirty-plus crowd in Seattle, or going on dates with her husband. In her spare time, she likes to go running with her dog, Greta, or practice the piano, but never seems to do either one of these things as much as she should.
