[Release Blitz + Review] I DO(n't) by Leddy Harper

I fell in love with Holden York when I was six years old.

Most of my youth came with spiral notebooks filled with doodles, wedding plans, and “Janelle York” looped in bubbly handwriting.

However, one night in Vegas changed everything.

I woke up to more than just a fantasy of my brother’s best friend.

Five years later, I'm standing on his doorstep confronting him about the secret he kept from me.

If you think this is the story of how we rode off into the sunset together…

You’re so wrong.

But if you think this is the story of how Holden blackmailed me into living with him...

You couldn't be more right.

Cute Read

Leddy Harper gives her readers a sweet romance with a few bumps in the road with I Do(n't). From the blurb it's obvious things are going to go all kinds of wrong and that they do.

I liked Holden and Janelle, however them together was a little off putting. At first, I thought it would be nice to have a man pine for me for five years, but then after seeing how messed up in the head Holden was, it was kind of sad.

Janelle is young and acts young. She's in an unfortunate situation and Holden seems to be the only person that can help her out. Which he does, under the guise of reuniting her with her estranged family. If I had one complaint about the book, that would be it. How Holden kept tying to butt into her family life when it seemed like nothing was really wrong. Janelle was off at college and that was that.

Either way, the book is well written, a little off kilter, but I still liked it. We get Holden, Janelle and a nice cast of supporting characters to help tell the story, along with an epilogue to wrap things up.

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, suspense, and heartbreak.

This is Janelle and Holden’s story. Janelle has always loved Holden but she never told him. These two had one night in Vegas that she just does not remember. Since Holden is off limits as he is her brother’s best friend she knows she needs to move on. So, five years after Vegas she is on Holden’s doorsteps to find out just really what happened. Holden does not want to lose her so he blackmails her into staying with him so he can get time with her in order to get her to fall for him. When will he realize she has always wanted him? Can these two make it work with all the secrets?

I loved these characters and the side characters. I had little trouble connecting with Janelle but otherwise it was a great read.

I recommend this book.

Leddy Harper had to use her imagination often as a child. She grew up the only girl in a house full of boys. At the age of fourteen, she decided to use that imagination and wrote her first book, and never stopped.

She often calls writing her therapy, using it as a way to deal with issues through the eyes of her characters.

She is now a mother of three girls, leaving her husband as the only man in a house full of females.

The decision to publish her first book was made as a way of showing her children to go after whatever it is they want to. Love what you do and do it well. Most importantly Leddy wanted to teach them what it means to overcome their fears.
