What impact would it have when everything suddenly faded to black? For Mia, a crowded subway ride changes her entire life. Her existence safely contained to the small cottage on the lake, she is unprepared for the neighbor that moves across the bay A career-ending injury has Jared permanently benched. I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, twists & turns, secrets, and heartbreak.

This is Mia and Jared’s story. One single event that linked these two unknowingly changed them both in many ways. Mia has become a recluse. She has panic attacks and tends to stick to herself and her home. Jared was in the spotlight but after an injury forces him to retire he is now not after the spotlight. When he moves to the lake he meets Mia. Some misunderstandings happen but after they are cleared up these two better understand each other. Both a broken by that one event in the past. But with the chemistry and love between these two they might be able to help each other heal and look forward to the future?

As always with Freda’s stories she deals with real life issues. The hard life lessons that happen every day. She weaves a beautiful story around overcoming or helping to deal with the real-life issues while falling hard for each other. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book.

Freya Barker inspires with her stories about 'real’ people, perhaps less than perfect, each struggling to find their own slice of happy. She is the author of the Cedar Tree Series and the Portland, ME, novels.
Freya is the recipient of the RomCon “Reader’s Choice” Award for best first book, “Slim To None,” and is a finalist for the 2016 Kindle Book Awards for “From Dust”. She currently has two complete series and three anthologies published, and is working on two new series; La Plata County FBI—ROCK POINT, and Northern Lights. She continues to spin story after story with an endless supply of bruised and dented characters, vying for attention!
