Series: UltraViolence Book One
Author: Natalie Bennett
Genre: Dark Erotic Romance
Random acts of violence with no justification.
Unprovoked, usually brutal.
Done simply for thrill and entertainment.
A sick infatuation.
A volatile obsession,
And a rising body count.
This isn't your typical love story.
This is a dark erotic thriller. I stepped completely out of the box to write this book. It is strange, ugly, and dirty. These characters have a f**ked moral compass. You may hate one or both of them. I remained true to their personalities from start to finish. This book has taboos and multiple triggers. Extreme violence, harsh language, and dirty kinky sex scenes.
Between the Bookends - "I L-O-V-E-D this book! I am seriously digging this author's writing. This was dirty, twisted mind fuckery at it's best."
Quill & Ink - “This book was a fun, dark, thrill ride! It's non stop action, with some sexy fun, alot of violence, and a lot of twists! Just wait til you read the end! I can't wait to read the next book!!”
The Ordinary Housewife - “This is a must read for all who love dark twisted books.”
3.5 Stars from Tiffany!
What in the World???
Wowza, what a crazy ride Natalie Bennett takes her readers on with UltraViolence! There was so much going on in so few pages. While I'm not familiar with Natalie's work, I can see myself quickly becoming a fan.
"He did the impossible and brought a broken girl back to life. We were both villains in this story."
So many excellent lines, yet also so many errors and a timeline that is a little off. To me, UltraViolence was a fast read, but still chock full of tons of information in the meeting of Levi and McKenna. We learn all about her and what turned her into the cold blooded killer she is today. The same is said about Levi, although it seems the more we read, we've only scratched the surface of this guy.
"Maintaining this life of pretty lies was starting to exhaust me."
That quote goes for both of them. They are lying to each other, family, friends and most importantly, themselves. Sure Levi comes off as a tall, dark and handsome answer to all of the questions, however he's still hiding something big.
"Finding someone who understood your depravity? That was everything."
She is blinded by how easily Levi fits into her twisted life. McKenna is young and dumb in a sense. She isn't as worldly as Levi and the differences start to show quickly. She trusts blindly, while a strong girl in her actions, she fails in asking why time after time.
"This was me, the lion, unapologetically corrupting the lamb. Though, this little lamb has a heart that bled black instead of red."
The book has a good premise, however the delivery is choppy and is in dire need of another edit. While this is an ARC copy, I have read other reviews that stated the same issues. There are huge inconsistencies in the story and simple grammar errors that trip up a reader. That said, I'm still going to check back in with McKenna and Levi in book two and see what in the heck is really going on.
"He was my cult leader, my only religion."
Natalie Bennett has always been an avid fan of all things dark and twisted, so it only made sense for her to write what she loves. She brings to life unapologetic antiheroes you love to hate and strong heroines who refuse to be broken.
Natalie writes Dark and Twisty Erotica with romantic elements. She doesn't censor her writing and let's her stories tell themselves. If you pick up one of her books expecting a typical HEA, you won't find one.
