Book Blurb

A brand new standalone from Friendship, Texas featuring everyone's favorite awkward baker and the one that got away.

I looked up and standing there was my ex-boyfriend, Jordan Webber. Maybe ex-boyfriend wasn't the right word. Maybe the boy who I dated for almost two years. Then he graduated early, leaving for art school in New York. He wanted me to come with him, but what future did I have in New York? My parents weren’t paying for me to go to school unless it was a state school with a real degree and all I ever wanted was to do photography. So the portrait studio worked for the time being until I realized I really needed to get out of the house and took the part-time job at the bakery. Between my parents’ divorce, work, and trying to get over my break up, I was basically a hot mess the first two years after high school. Joey came in at the right time as a distraction then the job at the bakery. But I still never forgot about the one that got away.

I hadn't seen Jordan in over four years and there he was, standing there with a hand on one of the boxes and his blue eyes wide open like he'd just seen a ghost.

"Abbey Dillinger?" he asked, it wasn't so much of a question as it was a breathless statement.

I hated him for leaving me. He could have gone to art school in Dallas. He could have stayed if he really did love me. I should have hated him. But seeing him, standing in front of me, I couldn’t hate him. The past four years had been very good to him.

**This book is a standalone in a series of standalones taking place in the fictional town of Friendship, Texas. You don't need to read any of the previous books to understand this one***

5 Stars from Renee!

The story has laughs, pain, second chance, and heartbreak. I was pulled right into this story.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first:
Edge of Glory (Friendship, Texas, #1)
Rumor Has It (Friendship, Texas #2)
Part of Me (Friendship, Texas #3)

This is Abbey and Jordan’s story. Abbey and Jordan dated for 2 years then he went off to school in New York. He wanted her to go but she couldn’t go. Now years later they met again. She has not had it easy but during it all she always missed him even if it hurt. Can they try again? What happens if they do can they get over the past? Can they figure out a future with her friends who at times try to make things more difficult? Is it worth all the pain to more together with a future together?

felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book.

5 Stars from Brianna!

I'm pretty sure I picked the perfect book to introduce myself to this author because man did she have a beautiful, sweet, and fun story to tell. This is my first time in Friendship, Texas and I'm already looking forward to coming back when I catch myself up with the others in this series.

The One That Got Away is the fourth standalone book in this series and definitely a must read. Sexy. Fun. Light. Friendship, Texas is the kind of place you never want to leave... well until you find your penguin.

Abbey and Jordan had a young love until decisions were made and they were torn apart. It's been years since they've seen each other.

Abbey was left with a broken heart.
Jordan was left with regret.

Now they have a second chance to do it over again. A second chance to make it right... if she'll just say yes. But Abbey is scared to take a chance... scared of failure... scared of life. Jordan is her penguin and if she lets him go, her life will always be filled with what ifs.

Such a great read.... just gah loved it! Amazing chemistry. Witty batter. Sizzling steam. And one seriously sweet guy who won't take no for an answer.

I highly recommend this book.
