So, so GOOD
This is the second book I have read by Leddy Harper and have decided I like her men that are full of surprises. They aren't perfect by any means, however say perfect things to the women they love. It takes a few chapters to get to know these guys and all they encompass. This review may be vague to protect the storylines.
"I wanted to stay there forever. To freeze time and never let her go. If I could've, I would've stolen the moon from the sky. Held it hostage. And kept her with me."
Ugh this guy. From the first until the last page there is an intensity to this book. We start with Killian and Rylee when they are just kids. Kind of young for the feelings being passed around, but I get it, it's a book and moved on. Killian is a little boy lost, who turns into a young man still trying to find his way. He is tortured daily by the tragic images from his past and the only thing that settles his mind, is the beautiful Rylee. She accepts him for all that he is, no questions asked.
We span years with Rylee and Killian becoming the best of friends and then so much more. Age is a factor for her, as he was a few years older, however he always said he would wait and they would leave together. Until he didn't wait, he couldn't. Then he was gone.
Rylee always loved Killian and thought she always would. Things change, people change and sometimes what you want and what you get are two different things. Killian has demons. Demons that won't quiet down until they get what they want. No matter the loss or consequences.
The book is well written from dual points of view, full of romance and so much more. Leddy Harper gives her readers a very unique character with Killian, along with one of the best storylines I have read in a long time. Every so often you need a book to take you out of a reading funk and this was the book for me.
Leddy Harper had to use her imagination often as a child. She grew up the only girl in a house full of boys. At the age of fourteen, she decided to use that imagination and wrote her first book, and never stopped.
She often calls writing her therapy, using it as a way to deal with issues through the eyes of her characters.
She is now a mother of three girls, leaving her husband as the only man in a house full of females.
The decision to publish her first book was made as a way of showing her children to go after whatever it is they want to. Love what you do and do it well. Most importantly Leddy wanted to teach them what it means to overcome their fears.
