Paige Simon was the only girl Declan ever loved. The only one capable of silencing his voices, the only person to ever have faith in who he was, until the day her faith turned to doubt and destroyed everything they’d made together.
Declan O ’Connell was the only person Paige could be herself with. The only one she could rely on, until the day she was forced to make a choice that would condemn them both.
They’ve had years apart, and second chances don’t belong to the damned. But when you come face to face with your savior, it’s almost impossible to walk away. In order to move beyond the sins of their past, and forever silence the demons in his head, they’ll have to risk it all.
But with love, there are real reasons to be afraid and, sometimes… your salvation is your damnation.

I Was Hooked!
Wow, wow, wow. A.M. Johnson has herself a winner on her hands if you ask me. The blurb for this book caught my attention, however I wasn't ready for what the story was going to entail. This is a heavy read. One that opens your eyes to what others out there are going through. Although the book reminded me of one from a few years ago, of which I can't name or it will spoil the storyline, A.M. Johnson did a good job at making this her own.
That is a lot to pin on another human being, but it is something that Declan O'Connell knows deep down in his bones. She was the one for him. The only one that made him feel whole. And it's been nine years since he's seen her. Nine years of pure torture, nothing but him and the voices.
Now Declan is working with his brothers Liam and Kieran at a tattoo shop. Dec is an artist. He's special and nobody but her can quiet the noise. Liam has done his best in the last few years to take care of his little brother, but he isn't her. Nobody is.
"He'd charged me as his poison, but pardoned me with the sweet taste of promise."
Declan and Paige were young and in love. It's a wrong side of the tracks story with the ending you would expect. However this time it wasn't his heart that she took, it was his mind as well. She was the balm that soothed everything around him. Made life easier to live.
"She was once my ruin, and she could easily rip me apart again, and I think I'd let her."
Oh Declan, what a wordsmith. This guy was deep and serious and a total sweetheart. You couldn't help but instantly love and feel sorry for him at the same time. While I wasn't a huge fan of Paige at first, she definitely grew on me as I started to see her the way Declan did. There are huge back and forths with this "couple", so many obstacles it made me wonder if it was all worth it for them.
"The boy I'd ruined had become the man to save me from my oblivion."
They were made for each other. Now it's getting everybody else around them to see that too. The book is beautifully written in a haunting way. Such a serious subject to tackle and I feel that A.M. Johnson did a great job with it. Although this is Declan's story, they are a tight knit family, each with thier own problems and I wouldn't mind seeing what Liam and Kieran have going on as well.
