[Release Blitz + Review] Clam Jam by RC Boldt

Title: Clam Jam
Author: RC Boldt
Genre: Romantic Comedy/New Adult Romance
Release Date: January 10, 2017

Book Blurb

“Clam Jam”
Definition: the female equivalent of a cock block.
Example: You’re chatting with a guy you’re interested in and your friend comes along and lays claim to him.

Maggie
That’s my life—except it’s worse. My friend who keeps “jamming” me is my gay roommate and if that isn’t a W.T.F. moment, I’m not sure what is.

Fact: He went home with three—yes, three—of the guys I had been so sure were into me.

Fact: He’s really pissing me off. I mean, hello? I’m trying to get back in the saddle, but I’ll never manage to get a boyfriend before the age of fifty if he keeps this up.

Fact: Secretly, I wonder what it would be like if he weren’t gay. Why do all the hot, sweet, tender-hearted guys have to be gay?

Fact: My gay-dar needs a serious tune-up.

Ry
The day I interviewed for the room to rent, everything changed. I knew I had met “the girl”, except there was one small problem: she didn’t want anything to do with men. I recognized a top-notch force field when I saw one. She’d been burned badly and didn’t want to deal with a heterosexual guy as a roommate. I could’ve turned around and found another place to live, but I wanted to live there—with her.

So I had to go “undercover”.

Fact: I’m in love with my roommate.

Fact: I’m a likely candidate for carpal tunnel surgery since all the action I’ve had for the past year has been my hand.

Fact: She’s going to hate me if I come clean now.

Fact: I’m not giving up. Which means, I’ll just have to continue to run defense until I figure out a way to get Maggie to see the “real” me.

The me that loves her.

The me that would never do her wrong.

Until then, I’ll keep running off every guy who shows any interest.

Until then, I’ll continue to Clam Jam.

Excerpt

“Ryland James!” I bang on his bathroom door, hollering loudly. “Did you eat the last—”

The door swings open, drawing my speech to a sudden halt because … ooooh, sweet, dripping wet abs.

My eyes are riveted.

He’s got a towel wrapped around his waist, and I don’t even realize I’m moving until Ry releases a sharp hiss at my touch. Because my finger is tracing over the slight indentations in his abdominal muscles.

“Um …” He clears his throat, his voice husky and deep. “Mags?”

“Uh-huh,” I murmur absently, my fingertip stopping one of the trickling droplets of water on his skin, tracing it down over his belly button, and—

His fingers grasp my wrist, drawing my hand to a halt, and my eyes dart up to his in alarm because crap. That was like an out-of-body experience.

“Oh, crap. I’m sorry. I just really, um … crap.” That’s all I can utter. Nonsense. No one would believe I have my graduate degree if they heard me right now.

If my tongue had a voice of its own, it would probably say something like, “Just the tip. That’s all I want.” The tip of my tongue tracing over Ry’s abs, that is. You know, just to prove someone Photoshopped him. Or not.

Because I’ll take one for the team. I’m a giver like that. People might even think of canonizing me as a saint after all this. Really.

Oh, and then … Abracadabra! Poof! He’d no longer be gay, profess his undying love for me, and wouldn’t ever leave me for another guy.

Or woman.

Wow. That scenario even sounds crazy in my head.

Shaking off my thoughts, I take one more glance down at his abs—just one more glance—and that’s when I see it.

“Oh, boy,” I breathe out. Ry is hard, tenting the towel, and I really want it to drop. Accidentally, of course. Like an “oops” moment. Totally harmless and innocent.

Oh. My. God. I’m a horrible person. I’m thinking of my roommate’s penis! My roommate who has quickly become one of my best friends.

Oh, the shame!

Where did this inner slut come from? It’s like she’s been lying in wait—for him, apparently.

But, really. I can take a little peek, right?

Our Reviews

5 Stars!

Very Cute. Very Funny.

Well, if truth be told, I only chose Clam Jam for review because of that title. I thought there was no way in hell a book with a title like that wouldn't be funny. And it was funny. Plus really sweet. A nice, solid romance with a little bit of a speed bump thrown in. I'm going to review a bit vague as to not spoil any of the storylines.

"Right now is perfect. Because I'm with the one I love. Now if only I can get her to love me back."

Oh this guy had me hooked from the moment I met him. Ryland was so sweet and sincere I couldn't stand it. He went totally out of his comfort zone to get to know Maggie better without making her uncomfortable. It sounds creepier than it was, but everything he did, he did for her. Rarely do you get a romance where the man is pining for the woman. It was a nice change of pace. Too bad he had to lie to get closer to her. The lie was huge too and all I could do was impatiently keep reading and waiting for the bomb to drop.

Maggie had sworn off of men, but that handsome and funny Ry hooked her too. She needed a friend like him right at the moment, so the timing was perfect. After suffering a bad breakup, her new gay, yet super hot roommate was just the ticket.

So we go through the months with Maggie and Ry as roommates working to much more. They have that ease around each other that Ry knows he wouldn't get if he were truly pursuing her. As time goes by and Ry thwarts any type of dating for Maggie what so ever, these two have become best friends.

The book is well written from dual points of view. I absolutely loved the chemistry and banter between Ry and Maggie. R.C. Boldt has written a perfect book boyfriend for her readers, if you don't count the little white lie he was telling. Along with Maggie and Ry, we have Jack, Ry's best friend and Sarah, Maggie's best friend. It kind of sucked that everybody seemed to know what was going on except for Maggie, however it made the ending much more special. Great, funny read!

5 Stars!

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, and heartbreak.

This is Maggie and Ry’s story. After tossing her guy to the curb when he cheats she needs a roommate. She is determined to get a good one Ry looks good on paper but to bad she wants a roommate she will not fall for. Ry decides he is going to play gay to get the room. He fell for Maggie already and need to keep her close. The more time they spend together being best friends the closer they become. When Maggie wants to date again Ry has to come up with a plan. This is where the clamming begins. Ry needs her to be single and fall for him. But what happens if she does fall for him? He’s playing the gay guy so how is that going to work? When the truth comes out will it destroy them both or give them both everything they always wanted?

I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author.

5 Stars!

I am pretty sure all three of us at REB chose this book simply for the title. I had no clue what a clam jam was but I am now well versed in the subject... and boy was the lesson fun!

RC Boldt is not a new author to me and one I find myself coming back to time and time again. RC is known for her sweet and easy reads that give you an incredible journey full of heart, heat and laughter.

Her newest standalone, Clam Jam, is one for the books in the rom-com category. This book was quirky, sweet, fun, laugh out loud, and everything I hoped it would be. Boldt gives her readers a journey that will leave a smile on their face the entire time.

They are roommates and best friends. Only one tiny little, ok well really huge secret stands between these two and what could be amazing. He is unequivocally in love with her and she has no idea... too bad she thinks he's gay.

Maggie, Ry, and their story were a fresh of breath air and one I really needed after a few angstier books. I rooted for these two hard and found myself on the edge of my seat at times... waiting for everything to fall into place. Their chemistry.. their banter.. the slow build to forever.. it was all just right.

If you are looking for light, easy, and a wicked cute storyline, then this book is for you.

I highly recommend this hilarious rom-com!
