[Review] Discovering You by Brenda Novak

Title: Discovering You
Series: A Whiskey Creek Novel #10
Author: Brenda Novak
Release Date: May 24, 2016

Can she ever trust another "bad boy"?

India Sommers once had the perfect family—until an ex-boyfriend broke in and shot her husband. Not only did that cost her the man she loved, a respected heart surgeon and the father of her child, but she also feels responsible. Charlie died because of the people she hung out with before she had the strength to change her life.

Just after moving to Whiskey Creek with her little girl, Cassia, to start over, she's learned that her ex-boyfriend's trial ended in a hung jury. He's getting out of jail; he could try to find her again. And that's not all that scares her. She's extremely attracted to her next-door neighbor, but Rod Amos is the handsome "bad boy" type that's given her so much trouble in the past. If she got involved with him, her in-laws would sue for custody of Cassia.

India has to keep her distance from Rod—but the more she gets to know him, the more difficult that becomes.

4.5 Stars!

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, pain, grief, and heartbreak.

This is India and Rod’s story. India moved after her husband was murdered. She blames herself since the person who broke in and murdered her husband was an ex of hers. Now she is trying to settle in Whiskey Creek but her neighbor Rod has bad boy written all over him. The chemistry is off the charts but she can’t do anything about it even if she wanted to as her in-laws would take her daughter. Rod is a great friend but he wants more. Can he help her in dealing with the trial and her in-laws? Can he figure out a way to break down her walls so he can protect her and her daughter from what is about to come to them?

I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this series and this author.
